National Running Day is a collaborative effort among some of the most influential running organizations and events in the United States.

Atlanta Track Club

The Atlanta Track Club is a non-profit organization established to inspire and engage the community to achieve health and fitness through running. With close to 9,000 members, the Atlanta Track Club is the second largest running organization in the United States. In addition to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race – the largest running event in the US – and The Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon, the Atlanta Track Club directs more than 25 running events per year.  For more information on the Atlanta Track Club, please visit atlantatrackclub.org.

Boston Athletic Association

Established in 1887, the Boston Athletic Association is a non-profit organization with a mission of managing athletic events and promoting a healthy lifestyle through sports, especially running. The B.A.A.’s Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon, and the organization manages other local events, including the B.A.A. Half Marathon presented by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, and supports comprehensive charity, youth, and year-round running programs. Chevron Houston Marathon

The Chevron Houston Marathon brings 30,000 weekend participants to the streets of Houston each January. Comprised of a Kid’s Race, 5K Fun Run, Full and Half Marathon, the Chevron Houston Marathon is Houston’s largest single day sporting event and is recognized as the nation’s premier winter marathon. Little Rock Marathon

There is no other event that captivates the south like the Little Rock Marathon, which is actually six events in one—Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay Marathon, 5K, Kids Marathon and Classic Rockers Marathon. Marine Corps Marathon

Voted “Best Marathon for Families”, the Marine Corps Marathon continues a combined tradition of dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism.  The 34th Marine Corps Marathon to be held on October 25, 2009, in Arlington, VA, is presented by USAA and Brooks Sports, Inc. Currently ranked as the fifth largest U.S. marathon and tenth largest in the world, the MCM promotes physical fitness, generates community goodwill and showcases the organizational skills of the United States Marine Corps. The MCM also hosts the Historic Half marathon in Fredericksburg, VA in May and the MCM Event Series throughout the year on Marine Corps Base Quantico. New York Road Runners

New York Road Runners, founded in 1958, is dedicated to promoting the sport of distance running, enhancing health and fitness for all, and responding to community needs. Our road races and other fitness programs draw upwards of 300,000 runners annually, and together with our magazine and website support and promote professional and recreational running. A staff of more than 100, assisted by thousands of volunteers, stages the ING New York City Marathon, as well as a road race nearly every weekend plus many track and cross country events. NYRR’s home base in New York, and its lifelong identification with Central Park, have given many of its events iconic status, attracting the world’s top professional runners. Our youth programs provide running to 50,000 schoolchildren in New York City, around the country, and in South Africa who would otherwise have few or no fitness opportunities. Oregon Track Club

The Oregon Track Club is a Eugene based non-profit committed to the support and development of track and field on many levels. The OTC sponsors everything from youth initiatives to masters athletes, including an elite team focused on representing the U.S. on the international stage. The OTC and its events, which include the Hayward Classic for masters athletes, youth All-Comers meets, and the Prefontaine Classic, are all geared toward promoting track and field and the benefits of leading a healthy and fit lifestyle. Running USA

Running USA advances, serves and promotes the sport of running as a clearinghouse and resource center and though its annual conference, Running USA wire, Running USA E-News, website, annual marathon and State of the Sport reports and youth fitness portal RunningRocks.com and support of athlete development. Running USA’s more than 250 members include road races, race services companies, running-related media companies and organizations and the athletic industry. Twin Cities Marathon, Inc.

Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. is the non-profit corporation that has organized and directed the annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and related events since 1982 as a community service for the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
